The limited-edition 2LP Picture Disc for Taco Hemingway’s 1-800-Oświecenie features hand-drawn lettering and illustrations that transform into phenakistiscopic animations across all four sides (once played). A phenakistiscope is an early animation device that creates the illusion of motion when spun at a consistent speed; here, the vinyl itself acts as the medium. When viewed through a camera or strobe light on a turntable, the artwork comes to life in a series of mesmerizing loops.
The visual narrative centers on “Little Devil,” a character designed specifically for the 1-800-Oświecenie vinyl. This mischievous figure serves as a visual anchor throughout the campaign’s merchandise. The animations reinforce the album’s nostalgic and deeply personal lyrics, where the artist reflects on his past and mental health journey, evoking a sense of childhood joy and longing.
By integrating pre-cinema animation techniques with modern character design, this release became a high-value collectible; an immersive, multi-sensory experience that deepened the connection between the artist and his community.
