YEAR: 2022 CLIENT: Va Bene Cicchetti

SERVICE: Site-Specific Art, Mosaic Design, Sustainability Strategy

The location of Va Bene Cicchetti within the monumental socialist residential area – Warsaw’s MDM, complemented by excellent decorative craftsmanship is surely a great asset. It was hard to resist the temptation to combine local and Italian traditions – hence the idea to design an original mosaic. Even though it appears to have always been there, this wall-mounted composition was created at the owners’ request and using a high percentage of upcycled materials, including glass panes from the Venetian Murano glass factory, ceramic remnants from the restaurant’s finishing works, and fragments of wine bottles consumed by customers at the sister location, Va Bene Powiśle. Positioned near a display window, the subtly colored base sparkles with red and green reflections as natural light shifts throughout the day. Subtly colored, the base of the mosaic, being close to a display window through which natural light comes in, magically sparkles with red and green reflections. Diverse shapes, colors and textures take the form of people enjoying wine and food (famous Chiccetti sandwiches included), at the table in Venice. Among the participants of this vibrant scene, observant guests may recognize the restaurant’s owners, Agata and Emanuele, alongside their dog, Koko.
